Vision & Mission:

SCEE’s Structural Engineering Department envisions leading in innovation, ethical leadership, and cutting-edge research. Our goal is to graduate students equipped with pioneering technologies, impacting local and global communities, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s advancement. Research clusters focus on material properties, computational mechanics, earthquake engineering, AI integration, structural health monitoring, and resilient structures, fostering change makers and advancing knowledge boundaries. Our research mission is to produce top-notch structural engineering research supporting resilient infrastructure and sustainable development. We prioritize basic research, engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, and conduct applied research with industry partners to advance the state of practice.

About Department:

The Department of Structural Engineering at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) stands as one of the largest departments within the institution, boasting a substantial faculty and engaging in extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activities. Notably, the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) program in Civil Engineering, offered globally, encompasses approximately 68% of subjects directly related to Structural Engineering, affirming its foundational role in the broader field of Civil Engineering. The Department of Structural Engineering serves as the central hub, with other disciplines such as geotechnical and hydraulics engineering branching out from its core.

Situated within the NUST Institute of Civil Engineering (NICE), the Department of Structural Engineering has rapidly solidified its reputation by fostering strong national and international connections. Noteworthy global affiliations include partnerships with institutions such as the University of Surrey (UK), Technical University Freiberg (Germany), and Cardiff University (UK). Domestically, the department collaborates with esteemed organizations such as NESPAK, FWO, WAPDA, Mott Macdonald Pakistan Limited, C&W Department, and other classified entities.

Offering comprehensive academic programs, the department provides both M.S and Ph.D. programs, in addition to its Bachelor’s program. The undergraduate curriculum is designed to impart a thorough understanding of key courses, including Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Steel Structures, Fire Response of RC Structures, Space Structures, Seismic Design of Structures, Bridge Engineering, and Design of Structures. Regular revisions to the curriculum ensure the incorporation of the latest knowledge and trends, with a specific focus on utilizing cutting-edge structural engineering software for structural modeling.
