Summary

Dr. Muhammad Usman is a tenured Associate Professor at the NUST Institute of Civil Engineering (NICE-SCEE), where he also serves as the Head of Structures, OBE Coordinator, and Official OBE Trainer at PDC-NUST. He completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Republic of Korea. His research interests include 3D Concrete Printing, Machine Learning, Earthquake Engineering, Vibration Control of Structures, Sustainable construction materials, and Impact loading. Dr. Usman has a strong research profile with over 60 journal publications, including 40+ ISI-indexed papers, and 20 international conference papers. His publications have a cumulative impact factor of over 220+ and over 1360+ citations. He has an H-index of 19 and an i10-index of 29. He is an Academic Editor of the journals "PLOS ONE" and "Advances in Civil Engineering," a Managing Editor & Section Editor (Civil Engineering) of the "NUST Journal of Engineering Sciences" published by NUST, a Guest Editor of the "International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks," and a Topic Editor of "Eng" published by MDPI Switzerland. He is also a Guest Editor of "Smart Cities" published by MDPI Switzerland for a special issue titled "Sustainable Smart Construction Materials." Dr. Usman has been the Principal Investigator of several funded research projects, including "Development of Magneto-Rheological Elastomer Based Seismic Isolation Systems for Seismic Protection of Civil Structures" and "Feasibility study of Smart MRE based base isolation system for large scale application in civil engineering structures." He is currently leading the project "Development of a sustainable 3D concrete printer". Dr. Usman has supervised eight undergraduate final-year projects, 25 Master's research projects, and two ongoing undergraduate final-year projects. He has also supervised one Ph.D. graduate and is currently supervising two Ph.D. students.
