A Final Year Design Project (FYDP) team from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (SCEE), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), has secured first prize in the Engineering Innovation Award, winning a cash prize of PKR 100,000 at the Pakistan Auto Show 2026 organized by Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM)

The award-winning project, titled “Assessment of Permeability of Concrete using Image Processing: A Novel Machine Learning Technique,” presents an innovative approach to assessing concrete Permeability and Compressive Strength through image processing.

Talha Murtaza (Group Leader), Saifullah Khan, M. Huzaifa bin Amir and M. Faizan Raza from Batch 2022 completed the project under the supervision of Lecturer Engr. Atif Mehmood Khan from SCEE (NICE).

This achievement reflects the students’ dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to developing innovative engineering solutions. It also highlights SCEE’s continued efforts to promote research, creativity, and practical problem-solving among its students. SCEE continues to advance excellence in engineering education and innovation.
